I agree Dieon Sanders was a great CB, but it strikes me alot that he can't even complete a simple tackle sometimes, kinda like Bly. Ummm, maybe the broncos oughtta dump him....

Well ato build a Superbowl contention team you must have a Champion defense. So take the root to the word "Champion" and you will find your best all time corner. CHAMP BAILEY, i mean sure there are many greats. But Champ Bailey is an all around player. He is a team leader, he plays his posistion as well as any other has played in history if not better, and is one of the few shutdown corners left in the league. And besides that, he doesn't play the ball like a cornerback, he plays the game like a wide reciever. He isn't looking to stop you from catching the ball, he is looking to score six. So if you want a champion corner, why not go with a Champ!

It's close, but I'm going to say Deion Sanders. Remember early in his career when he was playing baseball? The Falcons were pretty bad and would have a 1-3 or 0-4 record. The Braves' or Reds' season would come to an end on Friday. Deion would put the pads on for Sunday's game and have an interception or a punt return in a Falcon victory. A couple of months later, the Falcons would be in the playoff hunt.
Yes, he was a hot dog. But I'm not sure if I've seen anything like him.
If you take the kickoff or punt returns away, I might go with either Darrell Green or Rod Woodson. As some has mentioned, Deion was not much of a tackler.

I'd say Deion Sanders if he ever actually tackled someone, but seeing as he never did, it'd have to be Champ Bailey, he's the only true shut-down corner in the league, will actually hit someone and is a great teammate. Deangelo Hall is on his way but not there yet.

deion sanders, because teams never bothered to throw the ball in his direction considering how good a cover corner he was, and also when he got his hands on the ball as a returner he was dynamite...he was just such a threat with the ball in his hands, even though he obviously didn't put a whole lot of effort into run support

Any discussion on this topic should have the era the player competed in as a caveat. The rules have changed greatly over the years as to what a DB can do to a receiver. That having been said, for his time and what he accomplished, **** "Night Train" Lane has to be considered.
