They are highly profitable. Low in cost ot make and generally high in returns, horror movies make it possible to make some of the other movies no one sees but critics and movie fans.

Because people love horror movies! Who cares if it's March? I sure don't! I am a big fan of horror movies, especially the ones they have been coming up with lately like, "The Hills Have Eyes 2", and "Dead Silence", and "The Hitcher", but I do have to admit there has been some dumb ones like "The Number 23",
and "Premonition", but scary movies don't come out only in Halloween. I mean, come on, there is a million horror fans out ther waiting for more horror movies. And if scary movies came out only in Halloween, than that'd be pretty gay. REALLY! If you don't like horror movies, don't watch 'em! But I say, "Keep those horror movies comin'!"

yeah... teens love horror movies and they and soccer moms seem to be the only ones still going to the movies. So you will continue to see a lot of teen centered movies and animated features.

because it's easy to spoon that crap out, but difficult to make a great one. Plus, they just re-hash all the Japanese ones now, too.
