1. How do I get hired at anyplace if my resume is blank? I mean who in their right mind would hire a 15 and a half year old?

2. I heard getting a job as a waitress is easy.. This will sound shockingly dumb i'm sure, but waitressing seems really difficult, is it hard? How do you remember all those orders and stuff??

3. Any suggestions for a decent first job?

1. You get hired by creating a resume and adding any special/extra classes you have taken, volunteering, and clubs. Make your limited experience work for you by highlighting your personality.
(Dependable - I volunteered for XYZ organization and was always on time. I took Honors English class because I love to learn and can write well).

2. Most waitresses have to be 18 if you are serving alcohol (not sure if thats by state). But waitresses need to memorize the ever changing menus. Maybe you could start with being a hostess at a restaurant and watch the waitresses to see if you think you could do it.

3. Hostess at restaurant, retail, secretary (if you are good at typing, answering phones), hotel front desk etc.

First of all experience for a resume for a first job does not matter.

Here is what I look for when I am hiring people.

Show Enthusiasm to the person you are interviewing with, how badly do you want the job?

What will you do once you get the job? Will you have a good work ethic?, will you work hard? will you show up on time? will you be nice to customers?

If you are in fact going into waiter or waitressing are you good with people? Do you in fact even like to talk to/with people? Remember you will be interfacing with many different people throughout your workday. Nice people, weird people, angry people, shy people, etc..

How would you deal with an angry customer? Would you get upset and cry? would you be nice? would you yell at or get irate with the customer?

These are all questions that I would ask you and that you should think about as you are going through the hiring process.

In closing, don't worry about experience, everyone has to start somewhere. Again, just show the interviewer that you are enthusiastic and convey to the person you are interviewing with that you possess a great work ethic and that if they hire you, you will do a fantastic job. After you get hired, the rest is up to you as far as proving yourself. Good luck!

Most waiters serve alcohol so you need to be at least 18 in some states. This is how you get a job, you start in a place where they hire high school students. I hate to say this but Fast Food is ideal. They hire quickly and without much problems, they dont care about experience. Also I found that places like video stores, grocery stores, and the like hire lots of kids. A decent first job is working at a grocery store. The pay is right on with the minimum wage, and you can expect to get raises. If I were you, I would look around my town at big grocery stores. If you need a job fast, then fast food is the best way.

My first job {at 15 1/2 } was at a fast food place... they teach you what to do , not very difficult, you don't have to remember orders , just fill orders as people come up to the counter or window. Then after you've had some experience serving the public , you might like to try something more challenging. Good luck!
