I didn't really have a shower with my first child, and I am wondering what to expect this Sunday, my friend is throwing a shower for me. (# 2 is due in 4 weeks.)

There were about 30 invites but only 8 RSVP's, how many people showed up to your shower? Did more show up than RSVPed?

Do people actually enjoy the games? My friend has included me in planning and they sound fun, but the thought of a room full of adults actually playing games seems odd to me, I have limited experiance in this area.

What can I expect to receive? I know that gifts aren't the point, I want to have a party to celebrate the new addition to my family, but being our second child and we are financially stable I don't know what to expect. We already have all of the "big ticket" items and most everything else, what kind of things do you usaully get?

It's a "co-ed" shower, but men will be outside with the BBQ and ladies inside at the party. Any ideas to make this event even more memorable and fun?

LOL- Carrie H, I almost put the men will be drinking beer & doing the BBQ but I was afraid I'd have some nut go off on me about it, I guess that's not so strange after all!!! Just no beer for me, which I am totally fine with, I was never a big fan anyway.

I just had my first baby shower this past Sunday for my second child. My mother threw the shower for me and we had 60 invites and only 12 people RSVPed(she included me in the planning too). I was concerned that no one would show up and low and behold the day of the shower 32 people showed up and many of the ones not able to attend sent gifts with those attending. Planners usually say to expect about half the number of invitees to show up so with 30 expect about 15. We also had a co-ed baby shower and it was actually quite fun. The guys got into the games more than the women(watch out guys like to cheat :) ). I think the women just like getting together with everyone and catching up. The games were actually a lot of fun and I think everyone really enjoyed them. Since we already had our crib and most of the other "big ticket" items also, we got a lot of diapers in different sizes, clothes, diaper bags, a carrier, a boppy, and just small things that were needed or that I wanted to replace from the first child(i.e. the boppy, etc.). We are having a boy this time around so the clothes came in really handy since all of the clothes that we had are for a girl. To help remember who was there we took pictures of each guest and I in front of a "It's a boy" banner and then had them sign it. Make sure that you have someone in charge of writing down who got you what so that you can send thank you cards. It makes it easier to have someone write it down so you don't have to try to remember later who gave you what. Just have a good time and thank everyone for coming. They are there to help celebrate and welcome the new baby, and to see you and your husband, as well as your family and friends. Congratualtions on your new baby!

Ive never had one before but Ive been to many and thrown a couple for some friends of mine. Everyone loves the games they are always fun I know I enjoy them and you can get really creative with it as well so thats cool too. Most people for gifts give baby clothes,Diapers, wipes, baby toys, baby shampoo and washes, bottles things that u will need a lot of is usualy what u get and some people have baby registrys at the store of things they want or need. Sounds like your party is going to be fun dont worry just have a good time.

Everyone that rsvp came and the ones that didn't come mostly called and said they weren't coming. But every family/friends are different. The games are so much fun, especially if the men are involved. People love to buy clothes for babies, and you never have enough!!

you should get a whole lot of chothes, burp cloths, diapers, bottles, binkies, blankets, hats, sheets, etc. my babyshower was coed and whenever we opened something that needed to be put together, the men took it to the porch and did it! lol we had about 10 rsvp, but ended up with about 20 people! just let the men go and bbq and drink beer, they will not be fun if you make them participate! i'm sure it will be a lot of fun regardless! congrats!

you can expect everyone to "dote" over you because you are so far along...

you can expect a bunch of things you may or may not need for the baby...

you can expect everyone to enjoy the games- they're cute!...

you can expect to be exhausted by the end of it all...

you can expect to have a memorable time...
