I feed the squirrels nuts and corn. The opossum's eat the scraps. But I make sure I get the food far enough from my house.

i throw scraps out in the woods, so maybe they eat them, its not like they have a chance at a normal wild life anymore, with all the developments going up.

Only if I put the food way into the woods away from where we live and play. They tend to hang around the spots that give them free food.

No, I would't do that for fear of enticing them. Besides, there are no wild animals in the vicinity where I live (although I did spot a fox last spring!)

Yes but it started as an accident and now I think they depend on what I put out so I continue to feed the fox and possums and one coyote.

The Schrutes consider children very valuable. In the olden-days, the women would bear many children so we would have enough laborers to work the fields. And if it was an especially cold winter and there weren’t enough grains or vegetables, they would eat the weakest of the brood...

Not a good idea as they become spoiled and stop fending for themselves. The exception would be if the weather has caused a "real" food shortage.
Bless your heart for caring.
