To install the Fax component
Open Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
In the Windows Components Wizard, select the Fax Services check box, and then follow the instructions on your screen.
Notes

To open Fax after installation, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, and then click Fax Console.

Windows XP comes with faxing software. You need to select the "printer type" to be whatever your fax driver is.

From there, you need to make sure that the phone line is set up right and your dialing properties are correct for your site.

some basics, you need a faxmodem, and a good phoneline. XP doesn't install fax by default but the sites below will tell you how to install it from your Windows disk and troubleshoot.
