ok now that I understand rhythm and accents in poetry but now I need help with understanding the vivid language in poems. so what is vivid language in a poem???

from what i understand, it is using colorful and descriptive words in a poem. although i almost always write free verse and do my own thing.

vivid language can be defined as the use of active, colorful, and descriptive words capable of painting an imaginary picture in the reader's mind.

i'ld say you should use more vivid verbs, adjectives, adverbs, etc.

see the following examples:

for verbs--instead of walk, you could replace with plod, limped, staggered, etc.

for adjectives--instead of nice, you could replace with attractive, friendly, helpful, gracious, etc.

for adverbs--instead of very, you could replace with genuinely, exactly, undoubtedly, especially, etc.
