Try the advancement of technology in the Foundling Wheel. Liberals love it. It is a way for Unqualified mothers to dump their babies without killing them. The current part of this event is the fact that may countries will be installing these. They have been around since at least the 10 century, and the name is credited to Italy. They are changing the design. You teacher will love it.

The idea is that you choose something -- it's a way to get you to read some news.

I'll give you some international news links

http://news.bbc.co.uk/
bbc news

I've got another page loading, but if you search "Juan Cole" (he covers the Middle East, mostly violence, but he has links to sources).

Go to sfgate.com and in the list of blogs, choose World Views -- scroll down; he takes a different topic every day, and has lots of links to international news sources.

In other words, scope around, then find something of interest to YOU -- not to US.

You might come up with something no one else in your class does.

http://english.aljazeera.net

Al Jazeera (in English -- a lot of foreign language news have English language versions).

One that is impacting on Australia at the moment is the plane that crashed in Indonesia. The people on there were to report about a visit by our foreign minister to Indonesia. There were also security people on board.

The plane over landed and lit on fire. There were 10 people Australians and only 5 are alive. The others, who were apparently burnt alive (horrible) are yet to be identified. I guess you could look at Transport Safety. You could look at what happens around Politicians - how many people follow them. You could look at how emergency services react to events. You could look at the heartache of events.

Well, I think the bird flu is still going around. And if it's not happening right now, I know it was recently.
