My baby is a G6PD Deficient. He will soon be 1-year old. I am looking for a milk formula which has no traces of soya or soybeans, and safe for a G6PD baby. Help!

FYI: G6PD is a metabolic disorder also known as Von
Gierke's Disease.
It is an enzyme deficiency that prevents glucose from
being released from cells into your blood. Which results
in enlarged liver and kidneys.
It is genetic, and recessive, so a person needs to get
both copies of the gene to have it. It can be treated, but
not reversed.

What is going on is that your child is growing and needs more solid food during the day. Make sure he is eating three good meals during the day and at least two snacks. I have a 15 month old and after dinner, before he goes to sleep a give him his last bottle of milk, then brush his teeth and give him a warm bath that soothes him to a good night sleep. Make sure that your baby is not drinking more than 24 oz. of milk, beacause at this age is the maximum he can drinks. Also try to give him some water if he wakes up during the night until he gets used to sleep the whole night again. Giving a baby with teeth milk during the night causes cavity in their teeth. Good luck!

what is g6pd? My daughter was allergic to any milk is that what it means? She is now 14 months and can only handle soy next step formula. I think that you can ask the doc and he/she will let you know of a kind.
