very carefully. :) But seriously. Its hard to live with someone who is moody and irritable. I had a roomate like that once. It was so difficult to tell wether or not she was going to be in a good mood or not. So we sat down one night and talked about it.
Come to find out there were some things bothering her and she just didn't feel like she could talk to anyone about them, but she felt better after she talked it out. We also devised a plan for later, that if either of us became moody or irritable, we would leave a piece of notepaper on bathroom mirror with the one word that described the way we were feeling. .
MOst of the time, we didn't have to leave a note, but there were times I was "SAD", she was "cranky", we were "hungover".. lol It was such a basic thing too do, but it really helped us get through what would normally have been a crappy day for the both of us.
I wish you luck and hope you don't have to endure that kind of behavior for too long. It does get old after a while.

If you truly love them deal with it until they are 18 and you can send them out on their own.
If you happen to be in a different relationship (where you did not give birth to them) do not put up with it!!
Moody and irritable people should all live together!
They are the most horrible people in the World and deserve each other!
I actually laugh at the moody, irritable antics of some people I work with and go out of my way to show how happy I am and glad to be alive!
Too many people drag themselves down with their problems and showing it outwardly (to people that have nothing to do with their "Petty Little Problems") is funny to me!
Keep it to yourself and whatever, whoever is bothering you.
I know I got off track, sorry.
If it is not your Child you do not have to live with it, get rid if it!!!!!
If it is a Parent get out as soon as you are legally able.
Do not let them drag you down.

No, wrong question....WHY are you living with a moody and irritable person. The problem isn't with them alone. You put up with the behavior and your misery feeds the monster. You need to decide if moody and irritable is someone you can live with the rest of your life, if your answer is 'yes'...then stop asking how to live with them, you already are.

It sounds like you are talking about my husband! How I live with it is I rarely argue or even disagree with him. It is just not worth it. There are more subtle ways to get your point across without arguing. Most of the time I can talk with him about things and make him think that the way I think was his idea. Sometimes it's just stuff not worth worrying about. If it's something that really bothers me unfortunately I often stew over that. Then I try to remember his good qualities and continue to ignore the moodiness. Probably not the best way to deal with it but it works for me. We will be married 38 years in June.

You should not have to. If that person is always moody and irritable, that person needs to get some help, before he or she drives you crazy.

How do they live with themselves. Lock them in a closet. Duct taped, and tossed in the trunk of the car for a tour of the city. Point and laugh at them when they get out of the shower. There's lot of fun ways to cause panic and retraction in an insecure person, especially if they are prone to irritability. It helps to be a lot bigger, and somewhat prone to violence. At least they'll have trouble trying to kill you.

You haven't said how long the relationship is ongoing.
Also what type of relationship is this??
Makes a big difference you understand.
If it's a man women relationship do you really want to change to keep someone that is a troubled person happy?

It's hard my friend. You really have to love the person to tolerate such behavior. Also, if you are aware that the person has a mental illness such as Bi-polar I suggest to educated on the mental illness by contacting the National Institute of Mental Health or visiting their website www.nimh.nih.gov. They can guide to the nearest mental health clinic to get involved in a support group or get educated about the illness. And, if that is not the case with your current situation within your relation I suggest to get the hell out of the relationship before it gets ugly!
