A few simple facts:
1 Every species that has ever lived upon this planet, excluding current residents, has become extinct.
2 The lifespan of any planet is finite.
3 The lifespan of any star is finite.
4 Any current resident species of this planet that does not effect a part or whole migration from the home world will eventually become extinct.
Q.E.D. - We must leave the planet to colonise first the solar system then beyond if we are to survive. Such dispersion over the surface of this globe has saved us from extinction countless times before. But sooner or later the big one will get you. Best not to have all your eggs in one basket. And even though we have occasional forays into space the majority of the missions are commercial in nature. The scientific missions are hopelessly short on scope, ambition and funding. So we are left in the position where we know the lease on the planet is temporary, we have technologies we can exploit that can save us, we have the intelligence to build and use whatever may be required and yet we play at space exploration why? What is stopping us? Money! Something we invented ourselves will obstruct us from developing other inventions/discoveries with which to save ourselves. You've got to love the irony.

DZE's right on the money, money isn't anything. It's just a medium of exchange. When people focus on the pursuit of money they are putting all of their creative powers into nothing.

It's just another 'dragon', like drugs, alcohol, sex fame and so on.

The trick is to realise that there is nothing whatsoever wrong with money, nor the having of it, in fact the 'right' people can do immense amounts of good with....mostly by spreading it around. It's just that how one gets it changes all.

So, if one sets one's sights on one's dream of beingness, and in the course of bringing that dream into 'reality' it just so happens that bags full of dosh fall into your lap....no problem......enjoy, and help a few others enjoy as well, the system loves nothing better than a rapid circulation of abundance.

Depending upon in whose hand it falls.
On the other hand the soundness of economic activities are measured in terms of money rather than the wellbeing or welfare they bring to people. This measurement can be the source of many evils as it side lines people's welfare.
