I am 37-39 weeks pregnant the doctors keep changing my date. But I have this sharp scratchy feeling down there in my cervix. It's almost like a sharp feeling like a fingernail scratching from the inside out. That's the best way I can describe it. Does that make sense? It happens when I'm walking and when I'm sitting also followed by sometimes a grinding feeling but not all the time. Plus the baby moves around at the same time. I told my doctor this and he wasn't sure and hadn't heard it like that before. Does anyone know about this feeling?

Oh yes. I know that feeling well. I'm 32 weeks and had that feeling for a couple weeks about a month ago. 'Fingernails scratching me from the inside' is exactly how I described it to my husband too! It's the baby, don't worry. A woman on the pregnancy board I visit (pregnancy.org) described it quite humorously "I don't know who gave the baby knives to play with, but this game isn't fun anymore!"

i know EXACTLY what your talking about. Isn't it horriable.! haha i hate it. im only abour 33 weeks but i have gotten this feeling for the last week or 2. my doctor told me that it was that the baby had turned and was now head down. the pressure of the babys head pushing different on the nerves in my vaginal opening gives a very not comfortable feeling like pins and needles almost. it feels ilke hes trying to scratch his way out! haha theres nothing that helps though so just...grin and bear it! your almost done!

Im 37 weeks. I have similar sharp pains. This is my 4th pregnancy. Its just the baby moving around down there. It hurts I know. It makes me jump sometimes.

My best friend had two kids her last pregnancy she felt the feeling threw her whole pregnancy and the doctor could never tell her what it was or what caused it so I cant tell you that but I can tell you it has happend to someone elese before and the baby is one year now and healthy and fine so it must not be anything to worry about. If it gets worse go to the er your so close to giving birth now it might be an early sign of labor.

I am 30 weeks pregnant and feel the same thing.
I didnt have that until my boy flipped head down.
I think its where he moves his head and where there is so much pressure. Could be our babies have hair and thats the scratchy feeling we are getting.
I am not sure and may be completely wrong, but my doc doesnt know either. But, I do know I didnt have it until he flipped from breech to head down. Has to have something to do with it.

When the baby moves it rubs on your cervix and yes, I have the same thing all the time. It kinda makes me jump cuz it hurts so bad.
