My daughter is five months old. She has been sick on and off for a month now. She also was not eating or drinking well. My doctor gave me a prescription for an antibiotic (amoxicillon) and she started feeling better eating more at first, and then started drinking more. If you can try anything, try to feed him small amounts during the day and they key is FLUIDS FLUIDS FLUIDS!! Try to give him more formula or pedialyte. Anyone when they are sick needs more fluids rather than food.

Your baby not drinking is the worst thing because baby's can dehydrate very quickly. If you are trying pedialyte but he won't take it maybe he will suck on a popsicle. Anything you can do to try and get some fluids into him is a good thing. His not eating for a short time is more of an upset to you than an immediate heath concern unless it goes on for a long period of time.Try to get him to take in some fluids and if nothing works I would take him to the hospital and make sure he's getting what he needs.
With regards to his coughing ..... my son was only three months old when he got bronchialitis . I took him to the hospital and they put him in a cold humidity tent. They told me that cool air will help calm the cough and aid in clearing the infection ...it worked. They also told me that this is a good thing to use at home but to make sure you use a cold air humidifier and very importantly to use distilled water only.Tap water has so much gunk in it that it actually breaks down in a humidifier and is blown into the air so you have no choice but to breathe it in.You should be able to find distilled water (reverse osmosis) just about anywhere. I have tried this many times .... even now when my son has a cold and it truly does help.
I wish you and your baby all the best .... take care : )

Well some people suggest that around 6 months to switch from breast milk to the bottle. Also right now is when you should start introducing different foods but make sure to only introduce one at a time and wait a couple of days until the next that way if she has a reaction you know exactly which food it is.. No docter would recommend that you start weaninig her off milk you can also introduce a sippy cup but milk is really the only food she should be having in the first year. This is my suggestion try the rice cereal and some rice cereal has banana's already in it if not then just mash some up since she has already eaten it and feed it to her a couple of times a day then if she still wants give her some milk and she won't drink as much.. This is what I did with my daughter and she's healthy but she wasn't a premie, if you really don't know then just call your pediatrician.. Good luck!

If your baby hasn't eaten or drank anything all day and you can't get fluids in and the temperature won't come down TAKE YOUR BABY TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. Babies this young can dehydrate very rapidly and their condition can get very bad very quickly. I wouldn't wait. Best be safe than sorry. Try very hard to get some kind of liquids into your baby. This is so important. If you get to the ER tell the dr. that you are VERY concerned, make sure they do a complete check of your baby, maybe your baby needs some bloodwork, just make sure they cover all the bases!
I'll say a little prayer for your little one.

If your doctor knows this and says he will be okay, then don't worry too much.
101 isn't super high. Docs usually don't want you to worry a lot until the temp is over 102.
Probably isn't drinking if the infection has destroyed his sense of smell...it effects taste.
My daughter had a temp of 103 at that time, and amazingly, she loved pedialyte. (wouldn't drink it at any other time though) I recommend the red or purple. Don't bother with the clear. It tastes terrible.

It sounds like you need a new doctor Id say look for another one right away its not normal for a baby to not eat for one day let alone this long somthing is really wrong and your baby needs to see a good doctor right away even take him to an emergancy room if you half to but get help right away. 101 fever is dangerous for a baby of that age make sure to give him some infant tylenol to get rid of that,

If that baby has an infection then he should have an antibiotic. I have been in your shoes although it was a stomach virus and for almost a week my twins wouldn't eat OR drink. They ended up on IVs and are fine now, but man oh man was I a wreck.

surely an infection would need antibiotics.
he is a big boy, I dont think he will fade away from a day of not eating much.
Keep this fluids up(regular little sips) and possibly take him to the hospital.

yes my baby who is now eight months old went through that with his first ear infection. He did not want to suck his bottle. You have to keep fluids going somehow.
