Perhaps unsurprisingly, Houston has a broad variety of locations for viewing the performing arts. Whether you're in the mood for theater, opera, symphony, or ballet; you'll find a great selection in many locations. Here are just a few of the more widely known locations:

Houston Grand Opera - Founded in 1955, the HGO (as its known in Houston) continues to be one of the premier spots for Opera in the world. Receiving numerous awards as well as presenting a large number of world premieres, each season brings old favorites and new shows to entertain you.

Houston Ballet - Just across the street from the HGO is the Houston Ballet (also founded in 1955). The ballet troupe here is noted in the New York Times as one of the nation's best.

Verizon Wireless Theater - Changing from the more formal ballet and opera you com to the spot for downtown concerts. Depending on the schedule, you'll be able to see Broadway tunes, a top 40 pop band, musicals, hard rock, or folk music... or something you've never heard of!

The Woodlands - A long drive from downtown Houston (about 30-40 minutes) is the Woodlands Pavilion. This massive concert hall hosts many concerts for top stars coming on tours with stops in Houston. Lawn seating is cheaper then the covered section (which also has chairs), but part of the fun of a concert can be the mingling you can only get when you share the same patch of grass with another fan.

Alley Theatre - From the pop world to one of the finest theaters in the city you've got a theater that actually started in an alley in 1947. One of the oldest resident professional theater companies in the country, the Alley Theatre offers diverse plays by current dramatists. There's always a fine show to be seen here.

Theatre Under The Stars - Also known as TUTS, this nonprofit producer of musicals brings all the glory and shine of world class musicals - both premiers and classic favorites. Yes, the name is right; you'll enjoy the show while sitting under the stars. Enjoy!

StubDog Events - Offering a wide variety of discounted tickets to local events in Houston including Theatre, Comedy, Sports, Music and Family Fun Events. StubDog.com helps answer the question "What Do You Wanna Do Tonight?"

You aren't going to find a whole lot downtown that is reasonably priced for a hotel... especially during baseball season. If you have a car, don't be so tied down to the idea of staying downtown, and consider another part of town.

What to do?

Well, the Astros are in town all week, hosting the Phillies (until the 4th) and the Mets (5th and after). If you get tickets, get them on the net, but go to Will Call so you don't get charged with a bunch of niggling little fees that add about 30% to the price of the tickets.

I know the Houston Symphony performs at the Miller Outdoor Theatre every 4th of July (starting around sunset). They do cannons and everything during the 1812 Overture.

We used to do FreedomFest in Tinsley Park on the 4th. Don't know if that is still going on.

I'll add more when I hear more.

They can't be dealt with casually, however, because they are also two of the best chest surgeons in South Korea. They decide to wage a campaign to get a young Korean to the United States and entered in a good school. Minute Maid Park is in downtown Houston and you have all kinds of hotels to choose from. If money is not an issue check out Inn at the Ballpark.

If you are on a budget check out the Holiday Inn Express Downtown

Go to Galveston beach for a swim in the ocean,Take in the fourth of July fireworks at the park,I would say go to Astro World, but they sold the land to a land developer,I wish they hadn't done that. AS far as motels i couldn't tell you that, cause I have never thought about staying at one here in town.
