If Communist or Marxist societies were supposed to become utopias, why did Karl Marx make sure HE was to be one of the leaders ? Think about that.

Because man has a sin nature. We are selfish and want what we want, not what is good for society or the other guy. As an example of a more recent fiasco, my husband went to work for General Foods. They opened a new plant under a "new" system. It was the Team Concept and the workers did the hiring, firing and the awarding of raises. Do I even have to tell you how that worked out. Hire your friends, don't hire the minorities Unless they have big boobs. I actually read a reference to that in the minutes of a meeting about a applicant. You give me a raise and I'll give you one. They had all topped out at the high end of the pay scale in just a few short months. They had no bosses and team leaders didn't even attend team meetings because the masses could rule themselves. They were there to make sure they did the "lifeboat exercise" and other team building. What the workers didn't give one another, someone stole. This was pre-internet and someone still took the computers home. No check and balances at all and the mob ruled. So GF sold the plant. LOL All that time, the workers were just laughing their asses off. I'll bet poor old Marx was turning over in his grave so fast you'd think he was on a spit. Now that I think of it he is probably being held over the fire. LOL

Because they were not pure Marxist societies. Everyone on some level wants a little more than the next person. Noone is truly satisfied with having the same as everyone else. In theory Marxism is a perfect society but in actuality, it would never work because of pure human greed. Communism seems to me not be related to Marxism at all. It suppresses is members too much. There are at least to levels of society there. The people why govern and the people who do all the work. Does anyone really believe that those of the governing class don't eat better food and live easier lives than the lower class laborers?

Marx had an impossible dream. He envisioned something that could never be, given the true nature of mankind.
One could start out to create a nation where everyone was equal but that goes against the nature of man. Every person thinks that he may deserve just a little more than the other guy for various reasons; they then go about finding ways to obtain that little bit more for themselves & before you know it they are back to the same old game of the haves & the have nots; there goes the dream!

Cut to the chase and give the simplest explanation. Mankind is not geared to be a submissive part of a group. There is always the ones who float to the top to become the big leaders, or bosses so to speak. So even though the idea of a utopia is a wonderful concept it can never work. You can read about all the top officials of the communist party having all the luxuries money can buy while espousing equality for all. It just didn't happen. And it never will.

Because what marx thought he wanted was a classless society where everybody shared equally. What he really created was a society where there was one huge poor class with no freedom to do anything. Ruled by a totalitarian Upper class that had all the power. Examples Soviet Russia, leaders lived in splendor, comon people starved. Cuba, people with nothing to eat, Fidel Castro with $900 Million. Plus, when there is no reward for work, like pay or incentive, no work gets done, no money gets made, the society runs out of money and people starve.
Example North Korea. China is trying to solve this by having a stock market. Their industry is out of money so they started selling stock.

Humans are fallible, that's why. Marx's utopia rests on the idea that man is inherently "good", selfless, and always willing to help his community.

That's crap.

Men are raised to be aggressive, selfish animals; this is the opposite of what a truly Marxist society requires of its citizenry.

Corruption and the people were never taught the true value of true socialism because of corruption. We can not have total utopia because someone will be dissatisfied or singled out and to archive this you would have to purge the nation of people against the state, a very painful measure. In a Utopian society all the citizens are equal and today we are just the opposite, we all just don't care about the fellow country man that did not eat or bath, its all me me me.

Because the premise is flawed. The reasons that Marx gives to achieve Utopia, (sacrifice individual freedom for the collective good) is anathema to the himan spirit. Quick way to sum it up: "Capitalism is the uneven distribution of wealth. Marxism or socialism is the even distribution of misery."

It happened in the wrong countries, and with the wrong type of leaders. Marx envisioned a worker's revolution in industrialized nations, where worker's would rise up and take control of the methods of production. He did not believe it would originally take place in agrarian societies lacking in infrastructure. However, this is exactly what happened.
