i own a repair shop and one thing that will cause this is a bad pressure regulator after it sets for a while a small amount of fuel will leak in to the cylinder, and remain there for a while, and this probably happens over night and once it has been run and is used of the day it doesn't have time to do it again, this can also be caused by a bad fuel pump relay not pulling the gas back when the key is cut off,it has a return line on it,and should release the pressure on it,id check it for a kink in the return line,,often on these vehicle they have been off roading ,and sometimes that return line can be kinked ,and that will cause this to happen, you can check all of this ,it may be something totally different on this one,but you now have a starting point with it,good luck, maybe this will help.

May be valve guides, new seals will not always stop oil from leaking down past worn guides. have guides checked by qualified technition. oil will leak past valve stem if guides are worn, and 'puddle' on top of piston while engine is not running, then 'burn'off rather quickly when engine is first started, sometimes, after engine is at idle for extended time, engine may 'smoke' momentarily upon acceleration also due to this condition.

What color smoke? Black Blue or white? Black is too much fuel Blue is oil and residue in tailpipe will be oily. White is water in the exhaust.
What it actually sounds like though is you probably have white smoke and that is normal on a really cold morning. The hot exhaust is condensing in a cold exhaust pipe creating the same effect that you see when you open a really cold freezer on a hot day.

oil is getting by the valve guides when sitting for long periods, don't worry about it just check oil from time to time. I had a car that started doing that and after 5 years it didn't get any worst, I added about a quart of oil every 1500 miles.

Have any water in your oil ? Could be a blown head gasket or loose hold down.High mileage could also mean water(condensation in tailpipe) which will"appear" like smoke.Check your pcv valve and plugs. maybe tune up time !!
