Does the southern hemisphere get a more intense summer and winter than the northern hemisphere?

Is the winter down there colder and rougher than ours? Is the summer brutal and scorching more than it is in the northern hemisphere? I need this for a school project. Please help?

I don't think so. It all depends on how far you are from the equator.... I live in the Southern Hemisphere and the futher we are from the equator the colder both the summers and winters are.
