The orange one is a sv650s suzuki w/ optional lowers. The black bike is a ex500 kawasaki. Both are excellent beginner bikes

Black bike is a Kawasaki Ninja 500r or EX500 depending on the year. This is one of the best beginner/intermediate bikes you can get. Stone reliable, faster than 90% of the cars and with the right exhaust just sounds great. I own one!

If you have never ridden a bike before, it is more bike than necessary for a beginner. It really depends on body size. My first and second was an enduro class bike - on/off road. Which was that size that I could pick up easily from being laid on its side. If you can't pick it up from the ground it is too big for you.
When I moved to street only, got bored quickly and would take the street off road. Wasn't the best idea.
So look around your area and decide where you will be driving it - to go fishing, hunting, exploring or just to the nearest TacoBell?

STEP AWAY FROM THE SPORT BIKES...I repeat STEP AWAY FROM THE SPORT BIKES! You gotta crawl before you can run. Try a bike like a 500 Ninja, sporty looking, decent power while not a narrow power band (no, it's not a part!), relatively cheap, and decent resale. If you want to start on bikes like these, the more important question is; "What body part can I sell to afford the astronomical insurance and parts (from when you drop it) replacements. Good luck.
