i own a shop,and you can short another wire out on it causing it to do damage to something,or blowing a fuse for something,but if your trying to hot wire,you can hook a wrong one up,and blow a fuse or burn a fusible link up on it real easy,and if this happens it may not ever start,it all depends on what got shorted out on it,you may have created a situation that will take days to find and repair,automotive wiring is complicated and can be tricky to get right,good luck,i hope this helps.

Adding to what the 36 year veteran mechanic said. you can also fry the vehicle's ECU (the main computer that controls all the functions) and unless you have the keys to it the car wont move because the transmission and steering wheel is locked
