The American Indian Movement was a civil rights movement for Native Americans. Dennis Banks was one of the leaders of the movement. This movement occured at the same time as the other civil rights movements.

There is a very good article that explains the movement very clearly. It is called "We AIM Not To Please". I have a printout. I looked it up online to see where printout came from. It says from the book Lakota Woman pgs. 73-91

I am a Native woman. It was a very empowering movement. Many young Natives still look to the movement in reverance, it still has empowering affects.
