Breaking engagement?
Real Story ...
guy buys woman $78,000 engagement ring.. three weeks later she calls the engagement off.. He wants ring back , she isn't giving it back..
Whats your opinion.. ???
I would give the ring back !!! man, whats wrong with these woman.. who does she think she is ???
anyway, If I heard on the news correctly she is a news reporter from Philly....

I am not saying she should give it back because it was expensive.. I don't care what it cost..
An engagement ring is not a gift, it is a promise between 2 people.. she broke that promise..

I think that if the engagement doesn't work out, no matter who wants to back out, the woman should give the ring back. Keeping it is just tacky.

She needs to give the ring back because she backed out. If he was the one who broke it off she could keep it.

Either way the ring should be given back. As other answers have said, the ring is given with the commitment of marriage some time in the future. When the engagement I was in about a year ago ended, I gave him back the ring.
