when a man gets an erection, especially for an extended period of time, the penis often changes colour- from a pink to a deep purple. it's from the pooled blood and will usually become uncomfortable if not *ahem* alleviated. does that help? You didn't mention in your question whether the penis was erect or not.

An erection is caused by blood flow into the penis. It is not uncommon for the glands to turn a deep red or purple color. Don't worry about it unless the erection is prolonged or there is pain.

The head of an uncircumcised penis is usually purple.
The head of a circumcised penis is a softer dry pink color.

It probably means you are squeezing it too hard....which is not noecessarily a bad thing. When you let go, the blood will flow naturally in and out of it and it will change back to its "normal" colour.

Good luck.. B.T.W. no teeth please... that really hurts.
