Probably not. I think the original is much more terrifying and I certainly hope that if Wes Craven has a role in this new release its something worthwhile.
I assumed at the end of the remake when you realized they were closing in on the survivors of the film through binoculars, that they were going to meet their fate soon. I don't remember seeing an alternate ending or deleted scenes, which would have given us an ultimate conclusion.

No. The Hills Have Eyes 2 will be made by the Cravens, and it will pick up on Wes Craven's original storyline, rather than the new version of the movie.

I don't think so. It seems that they are not going to address it. No one from the 1st movie is listed in the credits for the 2nd one. I always just assumed that Brenda, Bobby, Doug and the baby lived. I posted a link to the message boards of IMDB that addresses the same thing.
