I've heard the same thing. Both of my sister in laws gave birth within the last 3 days.. They said within their last week that the baby didn't move much at all and they had a lot of loose bowel movements.
I think its pretty common, I've also read the same thing in a few different pregnancy books. It sounds like you are very close. I'm excited for you, I still have a few weeks to go myself, but am looking foward to holding my little girl! Good luck to you and congrats!

Yes to both questions - but this doesn't necessarily mean labour is going to start any second.

The baby and the mother both "prepare" for the birth a couple of weeks beforehand, although a lot of this just happens spontaneously, you don't have to actually do anything conscious.

The baby will normally be a lot less active (though not totally immobile) and the movements will not be as vigorous. Hey, at this point in proceedings they don't actually have a whole heck of a lot of room in there as it is. If you don't feel any movement at all for 12 hours then call your doctor or caregiver for more info.

And your digestive system will start to clear itself out a bit - it will not hold on to food as long as normal and soft, frequent bowel movements are very common. A lot women also report a generally reduced desire to eat a whole lot at this time, and this is okay. As long as you keep up your fluids you will be fine.

Seeing as you are in the home stretch jsut try and relax and go along for the ride, and get some sleep. As uncomfortable as you may be, please don't try and induce your own labour, give mother nature a chance to do her own thing first!

Good luck.

that is true. However you should call your dr. and explain that the baby isn't moving as often. They may want to do a non stress test on the baby. Congratulations!!!!
