It all depends on which career you would prefer to do. Starting salaries are higher for engineering degrees, but starting salaries are also looking great along the lines of finance and accounting. If you have an interest in both engineering and business fields, try majoring in one and minoring in another. (ex. major in an engineering field and minor in business administration or major in management and minor in computer science) Your earning potential will be great! And you'll have something to fall back on in case you realize one is not right for you.

Well, it really depends on what you are trying to achieve? And, are you speaking about an undergrad degree or a graduate degree? In general, I think a more technical degree (chemistry, math, engineering) is a better bet than business for an undergrad, assuming that you would be happy studying that subject. That way, you are highly valued in business because you have proven that you have the necessary quantitative skills. Yet, if you don't like business, you can also pursue a career in that technical field.

Business degrees in the States or UK are fabulous! You can then do an MBA. There are many types of business degree,if you think of salaries then you can search for the top job that fits, may be accountancy, finance etc. You can choose to do business if you get a business degree, and become an entrepreneur.

It depends on your intended career goals, but having a college degree in general is always a good thing to have.
