You should stop downloading if you feel that moral obligation and then your next step is to leave the rest of us alone....we don't hear you regardless of how loud you shout.
You actually reap some of the rewards yourself regardless...remember way back when cd releases were approaching $20 each.....now you can get any new album for half that...sometimes less. I suspect that's not out of corporate generosity but if your moral conscience starts to eat at you feel free to buy each disc twice to feel real good and warm inside.
I'll probably stop sharing files just as soon as that spirit moves me. until then I have quite an extensive archive to keep me well entertained

A large majority of the software that you have to purchase if pure garbage and fails to perform as claimed. My experience is that alot of the free programs perform far superior then the purchased programs.
Microsoft is a really good example. Really makes me mad when I purchased Windows XP Pro., and you have to install atleast 75 patches or what is know as critical updates. Like buying one half of a good platform. (Food for thought).
I have purchased every platform that Microsoft ever put out and the only one that required very few patches was Windows 2000 Server. And that was because the platform was built in Australia for Microsoft.
Myself I don´t go near file sharing as I am required by law to keep my pc 100% clean of viruses or spyware.
For those who wish to take the risk, I say go for it.
You should read the "EULA Agreement", on all purchased and non purchased software. You will see how their lawyers place all the responsibility on you if your pc should crash or becaome unstable from installing their software. Try and find one software company willing to take any responsibility after you purchased their program.

I will start paying for multimedia when I feel it is worth paying for
Not if i played a SUBSTANTIAL role in the production of the media, and not if I were getting most of the proceeds of the sales instead of executives and agents.
