Ok I'm planning on starting Vitex. I have PCOS and I'm recently married so I'm not going to be going on any birth control pills.

I do have a few questions though: I bought this bottle of Vitex 100 capsules and its 500 mg. The name on the bottle is GNC Nature's Fingerprint Vitex, Monthly Support for Women. Is this the right one? It's just that I'm seeing more than one kind of Vitex out there that you can buy. Another question is that I can begin it any time right?

Thank you to anyone who replies!

I've looked up previous questions and answers about Vitex but I could not seem to find any answers to my questions.

It sounds right. I am a fellow vitex user myself. I've been taking it for 6 months and I was very irregular and there isn't anything wrong with me and no one doctor wise had any answers for me. I take 2 800mg capsules a day and I have a regular cycle so I'm a firm believer in vitex. I get mine from vitacost.com they are cheap and you can get 300 800mg capsules for $8.99 I was paying that for 100 400mg capsules and they didn't last long because I had to take 4 of them to get my daily dose. To better make sure that that is the right thing look at the supplement facts label it should say vitex or Angus-castus and then the strength hope that helped good luck also get your husband to start taking asian ginseng it helps with sperm count you can look asain ginseng up at vitacost.com

First off, what symptoms do you have of PCOS? If it's the high prolactin level you really shouldn't take Vitax. There are many reports saying it made the level higher squashing chances of ovulating. If it's insulin, you should look at Metaformin. Metaformin is a type 2 diabetic insulin drug that works really well with PCOS patients. You could combine the two but you really have to tackle the issues you have with PCOS before you start other stuff.

In my opinion I would ask my doctor to give me a prescription for Metformin! The right doseage of it can help you ovulate alot faster than Vitex!
