Is it dangerous to cook with charcoal on the porch while the smell of charcoal is entering the house? That carbon monoxide that enters, can it be deadly? or is it too little of an amount to cause death?

Your worst problem is if it's a wooden porch, a risk of fire. Set up carefully, keep an eye on it and keep water nearby (preferably a hose). But if the house is open, the fact that you can smell food cooking doesn't pose more of a risk than making your mouth water. Secure the grill against being tipped over by kids and pets.
