I'm 21 and this is my fourth year of college. I am trying to get into a nursing school of my dreams... i was in a nursing program fall of 2006, but i left it to see if i had the chance to pursue the school of my dreams that i intentionally wanted to go to four years ago. It turns out that i recieved a letter today that i didn't meet the requirements for the program which just killed me to read the letter... now, i have no idea where to go from here... i'm lost. Should i still try to get into another nursing school, go back to the last one or just change my major??? HELP!

Well..as a mom of 3 and someone who changed my career field after 30 years. I would say , when one door closes another opens..be open to what other options this situation may present. I know it really sucks right now .Feel good about all you have acomplished. That is really great!! Never make a big decision while in a bad state of mind...Keep moving forward in the direction you have for the past FOUR YEARS!!!....Give it a few months my dear....You are a very smart young lady I am sure. Ask for advice from those closest to you ..Then re -evaluate your next move. Best wishes. I admire you for chosing to be a nurse!! I could never do that....I know you will make the right choice.

There are lots of excellent nursing schools around the country, and I recommend checking into their entrance requirements. You might even be able to land some free tuition assistance, etc. to help cover the costs. Have you talked with anyone at the program about what requirements you lacked to get in? You might have missed by just a wee margin, which means getting into another school might be simple. Admission standards are pretty tough, though--but stick with it!

If you found nursing to be something interesting and challenging, by all means keep with it. Nurses will always be in demand and cannot be outsourced. If you have found nursing not to be your cup of tea, take some time to just think about things--where does your heart lead?

Why not try for another nursing school? If its your dream, dont let it die. Nursing is a great career, good luck.
