Magellan actually did not circumnavigate the globe, he died in the Phillipines before he could finish his journey. He also did not discover the Pacific Ocean, Balboa had the pleasure of that. Magellan did name it though, as he also named the Strait of Magellan (Estreito de Todos los Santos). His remaining crew (very few were left) returned to Spain, although that was not Magellan's home country of Portugal (He sailed this voyage for the Spanish).

He TRIED to circle the globe in a ship, in order to find the elusive 'middle passage,' a short path to the East Indies islands, who had a monopoly on the spice market. He (mangellan) died just before reaching the East Indies, but this crew continued back to their home country. (Britain? or maybe France?)

If you mean Ferdinand Magellan, he circumnavigated the world.
However, Ferfinand Mangellan, I don't know what he did.
