Mary Kay has a great mircrodermabrasion set.
I use it at once a week in the privacy of my own home and LOVE it. I noticed a difference the first time I used- my skin definately felt smoother. And no, its not painful. Make sure your face is wet before you use it!!
Find a consultant in your area and ask for a sample.

Hi, I actually read this really good article about microdermabrasion, you'll find more useful information there I'm sure:

It feels like you have gotten sun kissed a little too long. Not painful, just a slight sting for about 20-40 mins after. You can still go to work after you have it done, you will just be a little pinker than usual. But that goes away quickly

It can be uncomfortable, but not actually painful. However, I will say this - after five treatments (one per month at $90 per treatment), I didn't see much difference in the texture or quality of my skin.
This is not the end-all be-all of skincare that it is touted to be. Also, it is like coloring your hair - once you start, you have to continue to maintain what little changes you do see. Any effects are very temporary. (They don't usually tell you that going in....)
