I have skipped a grade and I'm doing a persuasive speech on whether or not it is worth moving ahead. Personally, the negative have outweighed the positive. Maturity and social barriers were the main issues. Did you or your child suffer the same issues?

I started school in 4th grade at age 7 and graduated out of 11th grade at age 15, so you could say I skipped 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 12th. Yes, I agree with you that the social problems that created for me were quite bad. But I think if I had stayed in school when I was intellectually ready to move on, I would have become discouraged and lazy. I really don't know if it was the best thing for me or not. I'm ambivalent about it.

We'll I was going to be skipped up in elementary twice, but my mother said no, however, the funny thing about my situation was that my mother decided to home school me on 9th grade, she didn't do it right.

I ended up starting 10th grade with no credits at all... However over the course of the three years i had left, I had a TON of work to do.

But I just graduated 06/2006, and personally I believe that if your student is in elementary, and they are skipped up, it wouldn't hurt their high school credits as my mother believed, but psychologically, if your child could handle that kind of advancement, it is ok. However, It all depends on the childs social strenght and emotional strenght as well.

I hope I've given any perspective..
