If a husband talks to his male friend for 1-3 hours on the phone everyday and a total of 10-20 minutes max to his wife, is that normal?

It is his best friend, and they talk about computers most of the time.

nope, not normal... I don't talk to my friends more that 5 minutes on the phone... when guys want to talk they get together, buy some beer and talk (not a very intelectual talk, but we do). Talking with a friend over 1 hour daily, well if it's not about work, then he might be a bit gay... if not, then he prefers his friend to you, there has to be a reason, win him all over again. Make him prefer you over his friend, if that does not work, then he is just gay...good luck.

A couple of hours on the phone talking computers to his best friend, is nothing in of itself, but the two of you need more than 10-20 minutes together. He needs to give you more...much more.

I don't find it normal. I talked to my wife more because she was important to me. I didn't like talking on the phone anyway, but I would let her end conversations on the phone because I loved hearing her voice. As far as at home, I never answered the phone unless I had to. She would usually answer it and if it was for me I'd either tell her I didn't want to talk to them or I'd try to get off the phone as quick as I could. When you get married you do it because you want to be with them. Everyone else should be put in second place. You find out even more how important that is when they die.

Is it normal for whom? The average husband? The average man?

Each man is an individual. If his wife is feeling negelcted, then she needs to speak up and the two of them need to have a serious chat.

They need to listen and to talk like adults. Right now they aren't working as a team.

The husband may not even know he's insulting his wife because he can't read her mind. She thinks that he's just trying to be mean.

It isn't about the quantity but the quality of the talk darling. You cannot measure time as a "fruitful conversation" with the husband like that. You need to be able to communicate effectivel and not babble nonsense which can go on forever!

Well, sound like there is something very importantant to dicuss about. Or he must be a love adviser, counselor on the other line. Maybe he needed to open his own line to make money out of this. This is so abnormal for a man to stay on the phone this long. Maybe a phone recorder might be needed.

Let him know you are feeling lonely. He may be on the phone so much because he thinks you are busy or have no interest in talking to him. Communication is key, how will he know how you feel if you don't tell him. He is your husband not a mind reader.

The guy is talking about things he likes with his friends. If it's the same with the wife, then he would talk longer. With her it's probably honey do's and don'ts which are boring. Try to be friends instead of mother/son relations.

I thought it's the women who will talk for 1-3 hours on the phone. Men prefer to play their x-box for 1-3 hours instead. Have you tried eavesdropping? I would not judge before listening to their conversation. What do they talk abt? Sports? Fashion? Gossip? Eavesdrop and then make your decision. He might just be talking to his mom and do not want to hurt your feelings.

If this is a new thing he's doing than it's not normal, if he always has it's normal for him.

I think he needs to pay more attention to you. Make sure you let him know how you feel.
