My mom thinks I'm going over the top and "crying out for help"?

My family, strict country music, I like MCR, Three Days Grace, stuff like that. My mom and the rest of my family would like to prefer that as "freak music". I enjoy hold my science class's pet python"snake handling "(as mom would call it) I think that Stuewart(the snake) is cute, my mom thinks I'm crazy and says I've never liked snakes and I'm just trying to "fit in", I like smakes as long as they don't pose any harm. I am natuarllay hyper and potientually ADHD(of course I'll never know because my mom won't get me tested) She says I'm hyper because I just like attention. I want to be an actoress, my mom thinks I should get my head out of the clouds and think I should consider a "real job" Is my mom right? Am I going too far? AM I over the top?

well i think it is normal to like snakes... you are not going too far i think your mom is right too take a job so you could have earinings and become an actress maybe she was wrong you have ADHD it doesn't mean you are hyper you want attention i have FRIENDS who have ADHD and for me i find it very very normal.... obey your mom she knows right but then she is not that correct she is your mom she should not discirminate you...

ya know....I hear that kids can sue their parents these days, maybe sue for neglect lol. first off, they sound extremely closed minded and judgmental because you don't think and live they way they do...so very sad for them and you. But, ADHD is a serious disorder that can effect your life in many ways including your education and possibly your future career and that in my opinion and possibly in a courts opinion is neglect. Maybe they feel that a disorder of some sort will reflect on their parenting or even their genes..who knows. Is there someone you can talk to about that? A relative, a trusting family friend, your school counselor about your options on forcing your family to have you tested?
As far as wanting to be an actress, no prob in that but having a steady job will only benefit you until you can land that steady awesome paying role.
There is really not much you can do with sucky parents like that but at some point in your life, you'll have to make that choice, conform to their liking but risk your own happiness or be yourself and risk the relationship with your family.
To make things better for yourself, always seek out the type of people who will care and support you no matter how you choose to live your life, with parents like yours, you'll need good people to lean on.

Nope -- you are truing to find out who you really are, not who your parents want you to be. It's expected in teens (we parents should see it coming... if we don't, it can get ugly!)
Be who you are. Just remember it's not always easy being "different," even in your own family. Don't push the issue too much, just keep on being an individual -- who wants to be a "cookie cutter" kid?
Your taste in music, in pets, and in people will change a great deal over the next few years. It's all part of life.

Personally, i think your mom is over reacting. But if you are serious about the acting thing, make sure you also have a fallback, my friend is a ballet dancer, she really wants that as a proffesion, but she knows that it isn't very stable, and if it doesn't work out she has a fallback.
Your mom needs to let you be a kid, she needs to lighten up!

It is awesome to hear that you are a unique person. Does your mother hear herself, she says YOu want to fit in yet you dont do the things to fit in at home.... I dont get it.

You sound VERY sane to me, in fact, your mom is the one that sounds like she need help.
Most mothers like to encourage children to pursue dreams...sounds like religion has clipped her mind....

Try talking to a friend about your hopes and dreams...and think about the things that you need to do to achieve them, DONT LET HER hold you back. I am sure that she loves you but she probably did not achieve very much because of the shackles of her religion so she is afraid for you to branch out
dont hate her for this as it is born out of love...
BUT dont allow her doubt in your dreams to dampen them!
