You can find homes for you hamsters at about 4 weeks. They will be eating on their own by then and have no need for momma.

I went to PetQuarters last week to ask that very question because I have 6 babies to give away! They are 10 days old today. Because I bought a female hamster from them about 3 weeks ago and afterwards found out she was pregnant, they said they would take the babies but not until they were 8 weeks old! So,until then, and to prevent more pregnancies, I'm getting a cage from a friend of mine to separate the boys from the girls (if I can sex them correctly!!). My mom hamster is only 10 weeks herself! When we bought her, she was 8 weeks old and just, just pregnant. I would call your local pet store and find out. Hope this helps you out.

As soon as they stop nursing from mom, are eating regular hamster food, and are drinking from the water bottle. as for keeping them in a separate cage from mom and keeping them for 8 weeks, that makes no sense, if they are old enough to be taken from mom they are old enough to give away.
