What do you consider animal cruelty, and what do you think should be done about it?

Humans are the only animal capable of being cruel. Humans are cruelest to other humans. Lets be more concerned about that. Human cruelty toward animals is rare anyway. Be more concerned about the way you treat people, than the way others treat animals.

Animal Cruely exists in many many forms and is basically as a result of our ignorance and greed. It is directly and intimately related to exploitation of our fellow creatures.

Farming and medical research are the two biggest culprits here - look at what we do to cows (keeping them permanently pregnant so we can have milk in our coffee), Chickens (battery farming is, quite simply, WRONG), pigs (keeping them in stalls that aren't much bigger than they are), Sheep ("mulesing". Do a web search for this. It's not just cruel, it's downright sick)....the list goes on and on. And I haven't even mentioned medical research!

Again, I'd suggest doing a web search for the term "Lethal Dose 50" - or "LD50". That's the technique (which is standard across all drug and pharmaceutical companies) where they test a new product on a population (usually 100) of animals. As soon as 50% of them die, that's the Lethal Dose. Cruel and Inhuman.

Two things that I can suggest that you could do if you are concerned:

1. Check out what is involved in Veganism. This is the dietary regime which does not include ANY animal products, including honey (bees are also exploited in the eyes of a Vegan), leather and wool (animal products both).

2. If this is too harsh, consider Vegetarianism with an Organic focus.

3. Have a look at the way Buddhists have dealt with this - it's a philosophy called "Ahimsa" or "do no harm". The beauty of this philosophical mindset is that it includes all things, not just animals. Plants and humans are included! By doing "harm" to anything, we are directly harming ourselves due to the fact that EVERYTHING is interrelated!

Every thing we do to animals is cruelty to me..over feed...no feed..beat them...the way we raise them for food is wrong!!!!! I be live every living thing on this planet is alive for a reason and we need to respect that life..I know we have gone to far to turn back now but some day we will pay the consequences for what we have done.

I would say starving or beating or neglecting an animal would be considered cruelty and the penalty should be (but isn't) stiff.

kfc mistrreats chicken the workers hit,kick nd throw those poor chickens they cut off their Beek with a hot blade even the babies,they r really crowded aND sometimes they suffocate ND lastly they feed them alot and make them really fat but sum of the chickens 4 getting so fat hey cant even walk
