Have you ever wonder what it would be like to live with abusive parents? Well, a boy named Gerald had to witness it first hand in the book Forged by Fire. When Gerald was young he was faced with a mother that was addicted to drugs and was abusive. Then Gerald’s aunt took him in. Until his aunt dies. Then Gerald has to go back to an abusive mom and stepfather. Gerald also has to protect his stepsister Angel from their sick-minded stepfather.
I think it is crazy for Gerald and his sister to get hit for nothing. Social Services should put Gerald and Angel in foster care until their parents calm down and stop being abusive. The book was good because it always had some good action in it. It also shows what some kids have to go though in their life. Also it shows that you should be thankful for good parents. This book also shows what drugs can do to you. Gerald’s mom was taken over by the drugs and she beat her own child for little mistakes like crying.
