What are the major concerns people will be able to discern in the art of our own time? Are we hopeful and Romantic? Materialistic and self-centered? Concerned about injustices and willing to sacrifice for change? What evidence do you have in the art that we produce today (our music, books, movies, paintings, etc) to back up your argument?

Some would say we are hopeful and optimistic. Look at some recent movies that have come out: The Pursuit of Happyness, World Trade Center, etc. Some would say that we are willing to help each other.

Then there are those that will look at culture. The corporate scandals seem to show materialism and self-centeredness.

It really depends. Many of these traits are evidenced in portions of the population. What will ultimately define our culture is hard to know yet.

Not sure how this relates to economics, but ok.

We are a mix....
This generation has been through 9-11, the crash of 2000, and the impending/continuing real estate crash.

We are not the optimisitic overspenders that were in the late 1980s and late 1990s

There is sense of center in the current workforce.
