It's actually a 40in Bravia if that makes a difference?

I have a big wall mounted tv, and it DOES make a difference. Try to rent and buy wide screen movies. Most dvds have both formats. if you get the normal screen, it chops off the edges of the picture. not a big deal unless you want the movie theater experience.

If you dont like the bars, your tv should have a picture option to zoom and get rid of the bars on the top and bottom.

it really doesn't matter. Wide Screen and full screen are video formats. Wide screen u get the black bars at the bottom like the movies, and full screen puts the picture on your whole screen with no black bars

Only do Widescreen movies the picture has more detail.
