Yes you do because an egg is released each month but the tubes are cut so they cannot be fertilized because the sperm cannot come all the way up into the tube, only up to the point of being cut. The ovaries store the eggs and release one or several each month. The tube does not effect the releasing only the traveling. Yes the tubes can be reattached and a small percentage do grow back together, or at least did years ago but now they cauterize the tubes.

Yes you still have a period every month. The only way to avoid a monthly period is a hysterectomy or menopause. Also, since having my tubes tied, I have had more irregular periods than I ever had before. I talked to a doctor about it and she said that a lot of people experience irregular and heavier periods after having tubes tied.

Yes, you still get your period. FYI, if you get your tubes tied the cramps get worse. Suggestion, your roommate may need to visit a Gynecologist. Signs of really bad cramps could be endrometriosis, it's the hardening of the outside of the uterus. Need get that checked because that causes infertility & she can be candidate to have hsyterectomy. If she gets hysterectomy then she'll really never get her period. Other options to help cramps is chamomille tea. It really helps. Speaking from experience.

Yes - periods are purely a hormonal thing. In order to "get rid of periods" - you either have to regulate the hormones (pills, ovary removal, patches) or get rid of the source (uterus). That's just about the only way. Tying your tubes does nothing in terms of menstruation.

you will still get your period unless your ovaries and/or your uterus is removed...both only for serious medical conditions, or if you take a birth control method like Depo-Provera which stops your periods...but you will still get PMS and cramps...
I did find that after my tubes were tied that my cramping got worse...

Yes, you still have your period after tubal ligation. All that does is prevent the ovum from traveling along the Fallopian tube.

Yes. Your period does not depend on ovulation. Pregnancy depends on ovulation.
