The Russian Revolution caused Russia to back out of the war. This gave the Allies one less ally (now lesser men, supplies, etc.). Then the U.S. then entered. Keeping in mind that WW1 was a war of attrition, when you have to outlast/outlive your enemy (supplies, men, etc.). The U.S. entering and siding with the Allies (G. Britain and France), they provided fresh men and ammo etc., forcing Germany to give up. Considering that the U.S. also joined towards the end of the war (after years of fighting), Germany's hope of the Allies tiring out was destroyed as soon as a new and fresh enemy challenged Germany.
So if Russia hadn't had a revolution, they probably would have helped to defeat Germany (though Russia isn't that technologically advanced or trained to make much difference but had LOTS of men). If the U.S. hadn't entered, then the war of attrition would continue (war of waiting), and it was only a matter of time before one side would not be able to last/survive any longer. Thus prolonging the war and the winner would be the one who is last to give up (could have possibly been Germany or the Allies)

Well, do to the Russian Revolution, Russia wasn't in any way shape or form capable of trying to fight in a war. They had a hated government, the people were fighting back...there was enough trouble in their own country. So instead of fighting, they signed a treaty with Germany. And without US support the Germans probably would not have been stopped.
