Firstly, "jobs" is different than volunteering. You're legally too young to work, except for your parents in non-hazardous conditions and only within certain hours. It's hard to get a job or volunteer in places in some areas because every third person wants a career with animals. Believe me, I know. I'd start by pet-sitting or taking care of neighbors' animals or your own if you don't have any. If an organization in your community has regular adoption days, see if you could help with that. Right now, all you're going to get is behind the scenes, boring assignments. But don't give up. Read everything you can about the animals you're interested in, and remember it...be open to new facts or information, though. You could try to get involved in 4-H, which includes some volunteer work.....or wait until high school and join FFA....depending on the chapter, they may have several volunteer opportunites. This probably isn't a good site to go to for answers with this. You might try talking to your parents, teachers, or officials of organizations in your area. Keep in mind that if you get something, you're constantly going to be watched because you're so young. You'll have to willing to prove that you are NOT most 12-year-olds, who just like to cuddle animals and draws horses on their Lisa Frank notebooks. Then you can increase the range of what you do.
Good luck!! I promise, it does get easier as you get older.

sorry kid, like many other people i am about to tell you what youre not gonna wanna hear:
since you are a minor and under the age of 16 you will not be able to find many jobs that 12 year olds are allowed to do. most states will not allow this until you either A: work at a vet office and obviously have permission from your parents [like me] or B: when you are 18 most SPCAs will allow you to volunteer..and at 17 you can have a waiver signed if you have experience.
so basically, you have to wait a few years unless theres something in your community youre allowed to volunteer or work for.

You should really look at your local newspaper. If they have anything, then try that! If not, then what about going to a neighbor and asking about watching pets over vacations, or even take a farm camp. There is one in my town, that is open for kids to take care of animals during summer time.

If there's a humane society around you could probably volunteer there, but I'm warning you, you'll probably get a boring job like cleaning rabbits cages.

You can probably get one at a shelter somewhere, and if your like me, you won't mind cleaning out cages. Thats what you'l be doing but you''l still be albe to interact with the animals.
