i bought an old police cruiser that still had the stripes on it at an auction. i knew that the stripes had to go before i could drive it but last friday the city hall that the car came from called and said that it was not supposed to be sold with the stripes on it so they had to have it back to remove the stripes. so we took it back and they ripped off the stripes and some paint!! well they left scratches all down the side of it and took out spots of paint so that it now needs repainted i called the city and they dont want to do anything about it so do you think i have a chance at winning if i take them to court over? please serious people only (especially legal employees)

You have a pretty good case here and yes the Government can be sued in a court of law. You may have problems proving that the city actually caused the scratches when they removed the stripes unless you have before and after pictures or something in writing stating the condition of the car when you brought it to them. Its going to be up to you that the city employees caused said damage and its not up to the city to defend against your claim. So if you feel you can do it then go for it, otherwise you may have to get some rubbing compound and fix it yourself or get it painted. Also you will need to get several estimates to repair it before going to court as the last thing you need is to go into court unprepared. Good luck

You know, I don't think so. You knew the stripes had to be removed, so I think you assumed the risk of losing some paint. I don't think you have a case.

that is legal. each and all of the professional kit is bumped off previous to sale. Now, if the guy using that previous motor vehicle genuinely makes use of it to faux to be an officer, nicely, this is a diverse tale.
