Go talk to your doctor. There are many different kinds of the Pill they can put you on. That would probably be the way I would say to go. But it really is up to you and your doctor. There are many things they can use to make your periods better for you. I used to have really heavy, really bad periods. I was put on the pill after bleeding non-stop for 18 days. I used to get cramps so bad, I would pass out. I got on the pill and that all stopped. My periods were managable after that. Not totally pain free, but much better.

I personally am on Loestrin 24 Fe and find it to be great, but to each their own. It all depends on your body and your symptoms. Some people can't use the pill because the hormones affect their body, so they use something along the lines of the Nuva Ring. Others might be allergic to an ingredient. It is all about trial and error. What works for one person may not work for you. I suggest sitting down and talking to your doctor about your problems and what you want out of birth control. She or he will help you figure out what would be best for you.

Ortho-cyclen or ortho tri-cyclen. Ortho cyclen doesn't vary the amount of hormone you get throughout your cycle so you can safely skip periods by just taking the hormone pills and not the placeboes. Ortho tri-cyclen you can't control the hormones you automatically ween yourself back down in order to start your period. Either one is a good choice.
