I agree with you. I'm a Yankees fan and i don't mind them saying Yankees overpay and blah blah blah about money but they have to include Boston now too. Boston is no better then the Yankees paying 103 million for a guy who pitched against almost nobody near the talent of some of the great major leaguers. Not taking anything away from Japan but scouts rank it in between AAA and the MLB. And how about they money they are paying for JD Drew, is he really worth that? Is he even worth that?
All you Yankees haters complain all you want about the money they have but include Boston with your b!tching and moaning too.
And iced out i can tell your not a real baseball fan otherwise you would have known the last time NYY won was in 2000. If Boston is not trying to buy a championship this year please explain to me the two players i mention earlier. If they can pay Drew that much they could afford Damon back. Thats just more of a slap in Damon's face and i hope he makes it hurt like he did in the 5 game sweep.
EnormusJ6... wow are you kidding, not talent in the minor leagues? You do know that Pavano signed as a freeagent right? You know the means Yankees gave up nothing but money for him. If you noticed anything at all this offseason Yankees have traded proven players for young talent. Sheffield for Humberto Sanchez and Johnson for Ross Ohlendorf. Scouts say Ohlendorf is a steal. You base your facts on things you don't even know thats why i find it so funny people like you can criticize the Yankees. If you are such a baseball genious where is your offer to be a teams GM?
Fred S.... i was only around for 1 year in the 80s and started watching baseball around 94, sorry growing up the only team i saw in the playoffs was NY and Atlanta. And all those red sox players that you said have been around a while.. none of them came from their system and you say they don't have a good minor league system... maybe they havent since they developed players like Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, and Jorge Posada but those guys have had spots since 96 other than the three years Pettitte was gone. What do you want them to do trade those players for young guys to develop? At one point in time those guys were top 5 at their position; Jeter, Rivera, and Posada still are. Tell me 3 players Red Sox developed that contribute to their team. Their entire team is based off Free Agency.

Evil empire? Yes that is what you have become. If you want to know why . It is very simple. It has nothing to do with your players( our former players) . All you have to do is look in mirror. Then look at your owner. The " Boss" constantly plays on edge of the salary clap rules. He doesn't buy championships. Since he has owned the team he has won what 6 championships in about 30 years. What he does is steal our chances of championships. So does this foster dislike ? Yes.

Next are fans like yourself or an fan that throws mud just because you can. I am not saying all Yankees fans. However you must admit that you throw your past championships in all our faces constantly. Yes your team has a wonderful history. One to be admired but should not thrown into every disagreement that comes up. Too many Yankee fans bring on the evil empire talk. They wine when your team loses that it was this player or that player under performed. Not willing to give the other team credit for out playing you. That while you have great players some of you must boo them when they hit a slump. None of these things help dispell the evil empire image.

Once again I am Not say that all Yankee fan are like this . Also I know that I can get jealous when you steal away some of my favorite Twins players. However some Yankee fan demeaner sullys the class of your team. Most of your championship teams were of utmost class. Your bad behavior damages that image.

So I think in the future . If fans would act with class and respect some of that image would go away. The same maybe said for some of you Red Sox fans as well.

Do you want to know why I hate the Yankees' besides trying to buy championships, stealing players, being crybabies after they loose a playoff series they shouldn't be in.
In 1996 Jeffrey Maier reached over the right field fence which won the Yankees the game series, and the World Series and was treated like a celebrity. Any team who rewards that treatment deserves the name the"evil empire"
I grew up near a Yankees minor league team and went to lots of games do you know how many future pros I saw? One, Andy Petitte so their farm system aint that great. By the way, how'd they get Giambi, Rodriguez, Damon, Mussina? FREE AGENCY or requested trade all went to New York for a title and non have won one.
David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Doug MIrabelli, Jason Veriteck, Curt Schilling, Tim Wakefield all are still playing for them now, and were key a few seasons ago.
And your fellow fans are obnoxious as hell. I go to Orioles games and I hear lets go Yankee chants when they're not even playing, if you want to see real fans with a baseball pasion I'd go to see how the Cards or Cubs fans act before they Yankees, because at least each team is happy when the other team does good (McGwire, Sosa) you just complain when your precious Yankees loose when A-Rod hits the ball out of the first baseman's hand and they get cought.
P.S. Where were you when the Yankees sucked in the late '80's early '90's

I do not hate the Yankees I just want to seee them a the worst eam in baseball. The reasons for this are that I think the Yankees ans their fans feel that winning the World Series every year is their right and should not happen for any other team. I also do not like that the Yankees feel that they can buy a title (not working). The Yankees need to learn what is like to suffer with a bad team that strugles to even get close to 500.

You bring up many good points. The Yankees are doing what teams are supposed to do, which is go after players that can bring you a Championship. So basically, the Yankee haters hate the Yankees for doing what every team is supposed to do. That is why Yankee haters are mentally challenged. And as far as 2004 goes, had the Yankees gotten Randy Johnson, the collapse would have never happened. There is no one that could argue that the Yankees were a Randy Johnson away in 2004, to win the World Series.

The Yankees buy young talent, but unlike other organizations, once they hit their prime, they are able to resign them to a huge contract. That's why the Yankees are able to keep their players for so long. For example, if Jeter came into the league a Pirate, do you honestly feel he would still be there? No, they simply couldn't afford him.

I also love how Yankee fans jump on Dice-K and his $100 million. Talk about jealous? The Yankees bid about $40 million for this guy, too, and I bet Boras would have gotten a bigger contract from Georgie Peorgie.

Oh yeah, Wakefield has been around just as long as your two players.

And one more thing...the Sox didn't beat the Yanks in '04, they embarrassed and humiliated them, something the arrogant Yankee fan will never get over.

The Oakland Athletics. Now there is a REAL BASEBALL TEAM! They can't afford shet and they're still playoff potential every year! Don't you just love baseball?

I remember one year (I think it was 2001 or 2002) when the A's AND the Yanks both ended up with 103 wins. The only difference was the Yanks spent almost $200 million dollars on their squad more than the A's did that year. Pretty impressive I must say.

Ok first of all I can tell you are a Yankee fan and whatever I am about to say cannot convince you that Yankee fans are spoiled little brats who only cheer for the Yankees because its to hard to like a team that actually wins not because of money. Only a New Yorker can hate this American past-time.

First of all George Stinbriener had billions and billions of dollars and does with it whatever he wants like building a new stadium and adding players that ended up hating it in New York (A-Rod). Second of all the Sox got rid of those players because they were to much money and because we can't afford what they wanted in their 2ND YEAR. The only team in baseball that buys championships is the New York... oh wait I don't recall the last one they did win was it 1999?

Speaking of how loyal the Yankees are. Where is Bernie Williams?
Nice question? Articulate and almost literate to a kindergarten level. You may be held back a year to re-read "See Dick Run" although you have probably read it in the bathroom so much you are going blind. I especially enjoy the use of the word "we" when refering to how you have managed to hold the team together. Maybe in your next player strategy conference call with Cashman and George you can bring up the whole "lack of talent in the farm system because we traded it all away for losers like Carl Pavano" thing. It's funny how not having any decent new players in the farm system keeps those older guys on the roster for 10 or more years. And George having to pay huge contracts just to get players to field a team.

Anybody who answers this question negatively is on something, or just plain jelous. What r we supposed to do with r payroll, give it 2 the Devil Rays. Hell No! If ur fav. team had the money the Yankees have, they would be crazily spending it as well.

People r just jelous cuz the Yankees have the titles, the history, the Hall of Famers. How many teams can have a monument park. Seriously. 1, the Yankees!

This question sums up what I've been trying to say all along.
