Well if the children live with you,that would make you the custodial parent. Then I say summers and alternating holidays for the other spouse. I live in VA and my ex lives in NC and that is how we do it,and we have a half way meeting point to drop of the children,but the children definately one stable home they live all year round. Joint custody in 2 different states would just be to hard on them.

When we did it because we were on different coast...we had adults in the family take turns bring her back and forth on flights to change things up a bit for her so she got to spend time with every one. She did summers and christmas at the ex's.

Its pretty hard when your in different states...

How about an online video communications so your kids can see and talk to the other parent daily or when they need. It may help close the gap that they are missing.

No, not really. A mother and a father are both very important in a child's life, and it's sad that neither parent is putting this as a top priority. A job is never more important, work, careers, those opportunities are pretty much in every state. It says something to the kid that one parent is willing to move AWAY....that hurts, end of discussion.

well if the children are older like in their teen you can do the every other year thing.. or let the non custodial parent have them for the whole summer and spring break.. rotating the holidays

With my family..my eldest son comes and stayes with me in the summer...and I travel there in the winter for xmas...I'm kinda bummed out that he doesn't want to come this summer but I can't force it...I plan to go visit there but just won't be able to spend the same amount of time...it gets pricy since I have my two from my husband now..but you make it work...good luck..it does get easier
