Probably not...I heard on the radio this afternoon that a man testified at a hearing in front of congress about the large amount of ridiculous fees tacked onto his credit card bill that he had yet to pay (over $3,000 in fees over 3 years or so). Soon after he stated this, the credit card company called him and said that the debt was canceled. Politics as usual in Washington.

Congress doesn't control interest rates but they can influence them by keeping spending under control.
