A nebula (Latin: "mist"; pl. nebulae or nebulæ, with ligature; from Latin nebula, "cloud") is an interstellar cloud of dust, gas and plasma. Originally nebula was a general name for any extended astronomical object, including galaxies beyond the Milky Way (some examples of the older usage survive; for example, the Andromeda Galaxy was referred to as the Andromeda Nebula before galaxies were discovered by Edwin Hubble). Nebulae often form star-forming regions, such as in the Horsehead Nebula. This nebula is depicted in one of NASA's most notorious images, of the "Pillars of Creation". In these regions the clouds of gas, dust and other materials 'clump' together to form larger masses, which attract further matter, and eventually will become big enouh to form stars. The remaining materials are then believed to form planets, and other solar system objects.

This stuff is amazing. Nebulae are actually huge expanses of gas and dust, and sometimes stars. That's not as glamourous as portals to better places, but it's still amazing to look at.

Nebulae are pretty cool. They're clouds of dust, gas and plasma. They're the birthplace of stars. But they're not a portal to heaven. If you want to get to heaven, ask Jesus to be your personal Lord and Savior. got to this site to do so

They're massive clouds of dust, gas, and plasma in space. The reason they're so pretty is because they're lit from within by proto-stars or other energetic phenomena. The most famous nebula picture is from NASA, and it's been nicknamed 'The Pillars of Creation.' I've linked it below.

There is a lot more out there that you should check out. Black holes, star birthing sites, supernovas, peculiar galaxies, quasars, magnetars, burstars, and a lot of stuff that is worth learning about.
Astronomy.com (or their magazine) is a great place to start.
