It wasn't the tenents faults but the company itself. They didn't recieve a letter, due to their own fault, claiming the household for electricity. You recently just move there with your big family for just a few weeks. You did inform them but they have no evidence that you did. So, they apologize for the mistake but they won't be able to hook it back until the next 2 days. No electricity but the only thing you could do in that house is use the water. Both hot and cold. What would you do if you were in that position?! What if you're still attending school?!

I would read a book and play cards in the day, play outside and with my cats in the afternoon, and if I had a flashlight I would make shadows on the wall at night.

A few years ago in Canada, the electricity went out for about three days. It was chaos; the streets were packed during rush hour, the pizza pizza was ram packed, the grocery store was filled with people buying candles.
Neither of us was in school at that time, so that was not a problem, but almost everything in the fridge had spoilt and there was NO T.V.
It was the summer time and I liked it because it was still light out late into the evening and my family and i stayed out on the steps, talked and watched the other neighbours, especially the kids having a good time.
It was a good time for me, except i guess for businesses, like my boss who lost hundreds of dollars when the ice cream melted.

What would I do? It happened to 50 million of us a few years ago when a Cleveland power plant worker made a mess of things.

I did some reading, lots of walking, rode my bike a lot, enjoyed the quiet, then completely freaked out and wanted the TV on again.
