He wasn't. King Louis XVI was.

Louis XIV was the "sun king" who created the Versailles Palace. He was never executed.

Louis XVI was the king during the French Revolution and was executed for treason. He got owned the the guillotine...

This is only half the truth. At first Louis XVI cooperated with the revolutionaries. In the beginning there was a faint possibility to institute a constitutional monarchy. (In a movie I saw he even helped perfect the design of the guillotine but I don't know if it's a fact.)

But after a few years he tried to escape France. He didn't succeed and was decapitated by the angry revolutionaries. Sorry, I don't know the exact details of this episode, but it's certainly in wikipedia.

Louis XIV - The Sun King, died of old age in 1715. Not executed and never arrested.

do you mean King Louis XVI(16)? he was the one "guillotined"

cuz Louis XIV(14) died of natural causes....
